Mobileye has entered the humanoid robotics market through the acquisition of artificial intelligence startup Mentee Robotics in a transaction valued at $900 million. The deal expands Mobileye’s activities beyond autonomous vehicle technologies into the development of humanoid robots intended for real-world operational environments.

Mentee Robotics focuses on AI-driven humanoid systems designed to move, perceive surroundings, and make decisions in physical spaces. According to Mobileye, the company views humanoid robotics as a potential extension of its existing capabilities in perception, mapping, and autonomous decision-making, which have so far been applied primarily to automotive systems.
As part of the transaction, Mentee Robotics will continue to operate as an independent unit within Mobileye. This structure is intended to preserve Mentee’s research and development processes while allowing it to benefit from Mobileye’s technological resources, operational scale, and industry relationships.
The financial terms of the deal include $612 million in cash and approximately 26.2 million Mobileye shares. This mixed structure provides immediate compensation while aligning Mentee’s stakeholders with Mobileye’s longer-term business performance.
Mobileye and Mentee have outlined a development timeline that includes proof-of-concept deployments of humanoid robots by 2026, followed by planned commercialization in 2028. These milestones indicate a phased approach, beginning with limited real-world testing before broader market availability.
The acquisition has received approval from Intel, Mobileye’s largest shareholder. Intel’s consent reflects institutional support for Mobileye’s expansion into robotics and its broader strategy of applying autonomous system technologies across additional domains.
Through this transaction, Mobileye is extending its core competencies in sensors, computer vision, mapping, and AI-based decision systems into humanoid robotics. The move positions the company to explore applications beyond transportation, including industrial, commercial, and service-oriented environments where autonomous machines could perform physical tasks alongside or in place of human workers.
